Chuckbox

Genuine cowboy fare along with great cowboy entertainment.  You can bring the Smokey Hills Wranglers to your function.

Perhaps no period of American history is as fascinating as the migration to the West.  From the expeditions of Lewis and Clark to the great trail drives of the middle and late 1800s we have been drawn to its expansive prairies, blue mountains and seemingly endless opportunities.

Lone Hand with the wagonAfter the civil war 1000s upon 1000s of people packed all of their belongings into small wagons and headed for the promised land.  Some to seek fortune in the gold camps.  Others chose to be soldiers, ranchers or cowboys.  All of these people had fascinating stories to tell.  Those stories exist to this day.

Historical re-enactor, Mark Bridge, brings these stories to life along with the Smokey Hills Wranglers.  Follow him as he guides you on a tour through time.  You will travel with the great explorers, chase the elephant to California, join the pioneers on their trek west and ride along on a trail Drive

The History

The history of westward expansion is presented in a conversational manner and meant to be interactive.  Emphasis is placed on everyday life in the old west.  Who were the settlers and cowboys? How did they get to where they were going?  What was it like to live in the 1800s?  Why did people move west?  What about the Native Americans?

The Music

Much of the history of the old west can be taught in song.  From the songs of the gold camps, theBanjo, Mandolin and Guitar civil war, the pioneers and cowboys, people learn how music was a common thread in the old west.  The music is presented in a traditional manner, played on acoustic guitar, banjo and mandolin.  In all cases the oldest known lyrics to the songs are used to maintain the accuracy of the music.  Traditional cowboy music is covered in detail with explanations of the vocabulary and humor of the old west cowboy.

From Disney World to the Festival of the West people have enjoyed the lone hand.  So let's saddle up, point 'em north and hit the trail together.

Add an authentic touch of the Old West to your next function.  Traditional cowboy fare of Roast Beef, Taters, Cowboy Beans, Cowboy Biscuits, and Fruit Cobbler are prepared using Dutch Ovens just like on the trail drives in the old west.  You even get coffee that will "float a horseshoe" just like the old timers drank.  Combine these great fixin's with the traditional Cowboy Music and humor of the Wranglers - (known the world over for their stupid cowboy jokes) - and your get together is bound to be a success.  "Cookie" is probably the only chuckwagon cook on earth who has had classical chef training.  Scary thought---- but it means you can goose the menu a little if you hit him on a good day!!!!!

Add a traditional western chuckwagon show to your event.

The Lone Hand, Mark Bridge, performs these traditional songs and others during the Wranglers Chuck wagon Supper Show. All songs are played on traditional instruments and played in traditional western style. The show is patterned after the great chuck wagon shows of the west and includes beautiful three part harmonies, instrumentation and quite possibly some of the corniest cowboy jokes in existence.

Most of the songs are familiar and the crowd is encouraged to sing along and participate in the show.

Experience counts. Mark Bridge has performed through out the country. Some of the events include:

The US West Festival of the West

Rex Allen Tribute of the Century

Crown Jewel of Western Music

Medora Cowboy Poetry Gathering
