Match Safe - Tin - 1878 VU366 Here is a wonderful find that will look great in any vintage kitchen or in a chuck box. This tin match safe has the attractive patina of 130 year old tin and is embossed with “Patented July 16 78”. The hinge on the lid is still nice and tight and the striker on the bottom of the safe is nice and clean. This match safe measures 3” high by 4 ¼”wide and 2” deep. Match safes of this style are getting to be increasingly difficult to find and this specimen would make a beautiful addition to any collection or historical presentation. |

Jar - C. Riessner VU363 This is a vary scarce, museum quality, C. Riessner and Co. Oil Jar in excellent condition. This beautiful jar and tin carrier would make a perfect addition to any chuckbox or historical re-enactment. The tin carrier has pillared sides and two windows to allow a visual measurement of the jar contents. The jar lid still has the faint image of a logo as well as the patent dates of March 30, 1852 and March 30, 1872. The beautiful blue glass jar can slide out of the tin carrier and is actually double embossed on its bottom with “C. Riessner & Co. - NY - PAT - FEB 12, 78”. This would make a great molasses or honey jar in any kitchen or make a beautiful accent piece in any room. The entire specimen has a height of 6” with a bottom diameter of 4 ½”. |

Tin - Calumet Baking Powder VU365 This is a nice Calumet Baking Powder storage tin in Very Good condition. With its bright tin, the container presents very well. The lid is pierced with two tiny holes and is embossed with “Calumet Baking Powder - Absolutely Pure - 1 lb - Made In U.S.A.” and the lid is of a style that works perfectly for a biscuit cutter. The tin Stands 5 1/4” high with a diameter of 2 7/8”. |

Calumet Baking Powder Tin
VU357 This is an Calumet Baking Powder tin in Good condition. This nice little, darkened tin, 4 ounce can has an embossed lid that says “Calumet Baking Powder - 4 oz. - Made In U.S.A. - Absolutely Pure”. This is just the right size to hold spice or seasoning in a chuck box or to use as an accent piece. The can stands 3 ¼” high with a diameter of 2”. |

Bottle - Charles Asprey - Circa 1891 VU356 This is a beautiful, Charles Asprey, bottle with paneled sides in Excellent condition. The bottle stands 5” high and has a diameter of 1 1/4”. The ten panels have nice crisp edges and add a nice flair to the bottles appearance. 1 panel has a slight fleabite to its edge. The silver around the mouth of the bottle is threaded and the British hallmark on the cap adds an elegant touch. This attractive little bottle would make a nice accent piece in any room or make a wonderful condiment bottle. |

Tin Canister - Starch VU333 Here is an attractive large sized tin container in Good + condition. This attractive container is stenciled with the word Starch and has the pleasing patina of old tin. It even has its original hasp intact. A container such as this would be perfect for holding your sugar or bench flour in a chuckbox or period kitchen. The container has a height of 7” and a diameter of 7 ¼”. Specimens like this are very scarce and make perfect additions to any collection of antique tinware. |

Spice Set SS10 Vintage & gorgeous, early Fries spice box of japanned tin with lacquered interior and all six original spice canisters inside. Still in outstanding overall condition, this beautiful Spice Box still has the original, gold painted handle on top as well as the lifting front latch. Depth is about 4" and the Box measures approx. 10" wide by about 6 3/4" front to back. The set still has the original, japanned exterior finish with fine gold pin-striped line decorative motif on both top & sides, just as you'd expect on a 19th Century Spice Box. Front latch swivels upward & lifts lid to expose a beautifully japanned interior and all six original, stenciled Spice Canisters with original finials, hinges and plus clean tinned interiors. These individual Spice Canisters are clearly marked with gold painted labels reading: "Ginger" ... "Pepper" ... "Cloves" ... "Allspice" ... "Cinnamon" ... "Nutmeg". Individual canisters are beautifully japanned in a deep reddish "root beer" color as is the interior of the Spice Box itself. The canisters all have sturdy hinges. The small spice canisters measure about 3" by 3" and stand 2 1/2" tall to top of the Spice Box rim as can be seen in the photos, with decorative finials adding another 1/2". About as complete and gorgeous as these Antique Spice Box sets ever get after a Century of honest use. |

Pail - Covered
VU329 This is a nice covered berry bucket or lunch pail in Very Good condition. These pails make excellent storage containers for a chuckbox or in a period camp. This pail is of a larger size than you normally see with a diameter of 7 1/8” and a height of 5 1/2” to the top of the lid and has a capacity of around 1 gallon. The interior still retains a nearly all of its bright tin finish. These old pails are fun to collect and can serve a number of purposes in any home. |

Tin Container Assortment VU328 Here is a wonderful assortment of tin containers in Very Good condition. This collection of 6 tin containers will make a great addition to any chuck box or other situation needing vintage closeable storage. The collections consists of two large containers measuring 8 ¼” high by 6 ½” wide by 4” deep - two Sprague Warner coffee tins measuring 5 ½” high by 4 ½” diameter - one Dr. Price’s Cream Baking Powder tin measuring 4 ¾” high by 3” diameter and one Arthur L. Mulvany marshmallow tin measuring 2” high by 4 ¼” diameter. |

SOLD Here is a nice lidded crock in Very Good condition. This specimen has an attractive dark brown glaze and the crock has a good heft to it. The crock is free of any cracks and has only two chips to the throat. With a height of 7” and a diameter of 5” the crock is a nice size for a chuck box or kitchen and would work great for salt or sugar. |

Tin Container - J Hall Rohrman VU326 This is a very nice Rohrman and Son lidded tin container in Very Good condition. J. Hall Rohrman operated during 1800’s in Philadelphia, PA. Rohrman was contracted to make over 200,000 tin canteens by February 16,1864 for use during the Civil War. This container is constructed of heavy tin and has a very nice hinged lid and clasp set at an angle on the front. The interior of the container still retains most of its bright tin finish - the exterior still shows remnants of the original paint and has the attractive patina of very old tin. This container has a height of 7 3/4” and a depth of 8”. This would make a wonderful bin to hold bench flour or sugar in a chuck box. Bins like this are scarce and will hold their own in any collection of antique tin ware. |

Crock VU325 This is a beautiful lidded crock in Excellent condition. This attractive crock has an attractive brown glaze that is free of any cracks, crazing or chips and has a capacity of approximately 1 gallon. The sides and shoulders are gently tapered and give the crock a very nice appearance. This crock would make a great sourdough crock for a chuck box or a storage crock in any kitchen. The crock has a bottom diameter of 7” and a height of 7 ½”. |

Apothecary Jar
VU316 This is a very nice Apothecary Jar in Excellent condition. This jar is made of thick glass and weighs in at over 4 ½ pounds - the lid and jar are free of any cracks or chips. The jar, with its paneled side, presents very well and will hold its own in any glass collection. The height of the jar is 11” to the top of the lid and the jar has a bottom diameter of 4 ¾. |

Vinegar Cruet VU315 Here is a very attractive Vinegar Cruet in Excellent condition. This nice cruet has a capacity of one pint and still has a nice glass stopper. With its paneled sides and stopper this cruet presents very well and would look great in any kitchen or on any table. The cruet stands 8 3/4” high – the the top of the stopper and has a bottom diameter of approximately 3”. |

Stoneware Jug - Brown Glaze
VU307 Here is a beautiful, 1 gallon, brown glazed jug in Excellent condition. This little gem is free of any chips or cracks and it still sports a nice bright glaze with no crazing. Note the beautiful swirl pattern in the glaze on the bottom of the jug and the nice, wide applied handle. The jug has a bottom diameter of 7 1/2” and a height of 8 1/4” - the handle has a width of 1 3/8”. This would make a great addition to any collection of early stoneware. |

Spice Set SS07 This is a beautiful example of an early spice box in Excellent condition. With it's asphaltum paint and gold stenciling this box presents wonderfully. The box is constructed with a hinged lid on either side of the handle that can be lifted to reveal separate compartments. The six compartments are labeled Nutmegs, Cinnamon, Cloves, Allspice, Mustard, Ginger. The details on this spice box are very nice with even the handle having the lightest touch of gold trim. Both of the tin covers open and close freely and there is no sign of rust on the entire specimen. The box has a length of 9” and a depth of 6 1/4” the height is 4 1/2” not including the 3/4” wide handle. It is very seldom that you find a spice box of this style in a condition this pristine – this specimen is a real gem. |

Fire Bucket - Covered
VU265 This is a beautiful example of a galvanized and painted covered fire bucket in Very Good + condition. This wonderful specimen is in the shape of a “Dutch” bucket and is free of any rust. The muted red paint has been embellished with two hand painted gold bands with black pinstripe placed around both the bottom and the top of the bucket. The turned, black painted handle is polished from years of use and the distressed red paint gives this bucket character galore that would present very well in any room. The bucket has a height of 12” to the top of the handle on the lid and has a bottom diameter of 8 3/4” with a top diameter of 12”. Buckets like these are scarce and very collectible. |

Wire Ware Basket VU268 This is a very nice, circa 1875, wire basket in Excellent condition. Baskets of this type were very popular during the period following the Civil War. This specimen still retains a good percentage of its bright tin finish and displays quite nicely. The basket has an overall height of 5” with a diameter of 4”. This would make a wonderful addition to any collection of vintage baskets. |

Apache Basket
AB01 This is a wonderful example of a Southwestern, Native American coiled work basket - Apache - In Excellent condition. The basket has gently tapered sides and has a bottom diameter of 5” increasing to a top diameter of 6 1/2”. The height of the basket is 2 1/2” with an overall height of 6” to the top of the handle. The basket presents beautifully with it's muted earth tone colors and has a little soiling to the inside of the basket. There are two spots to the top rim of the basket that are missing the overwrap on the bundle each of these two spots are about 1/2” in length. These spots may have been part of the original weaving. |

Spice Set - Tole Painted
SS08 This is a beautiful, tole painted spice set in Excellent condition. This one of a kind little gem is a wonderful example of tole painting and could be considered a piece of art. Open the lid and you will find 5 different containers labeled Cloves, Cinnamon, Allspice, Nutmeg and Ginger. This set still has the original nutmeg grater too. Even the hasp is intact. The spice set has a height of 3 1/2” and a diameter of 7 1/4”. Each of the spice tins measure 2 3/4” in height with a diameter of 2 1/2”. What a perfect accent piece for any room!!!! |

Bean Pot - Monmouth Western BP01 This is a very nice, smaller sized Monmouth Western bean pot in Excellent condition. This pot is as clean as can be and has a very nice shine to the glaze. It if free of any crazing or cracks and has only one small abraded area on the bottom rim. The pot stands 5 1/4" high without the lid and has an overall width of 7 1/4" handle to handle. |

Match Safe - Bryant & May VU251 This is a Bryant & May Limited match safe in Very Good + condition. Bryant and May was a partnership formed in 1843 in London and they imported and manufactured both safety matches and the older style Lucifer sticks. They were influential in fighting against the dreadful disease known as Phossy jaw which was caused by the white phosphorus used in the manufacture of the early matches. This nice little match safe has a flip open top embossed with the words Bryant & May Limited and one face of the box is a match striking surface. The safe measures 1 7/8” by 1 1/4” and has a depth of 1/2”. |

SOLD This is a crock, in Excellent condition, that is just the right size to keep a sourdough culture. This ½ gallon crock features an Indian head within two circles. The bottom has the numbers 2-9 and what appears to be the letter “t” impressed into the clay. The crock stands 6” high with a diameter of 6”. This crock is free of any cracks with the exception of some interior crazing. There is one little blip on the side of the crock that occurred during firing and a small chip about ½” in length on the bottom rim. This is a very attractive crock that would look great in any kitchen stetting. |

Wall Box - Candle Box WB01 Here is a wonderful primitive wall box made of plain sawn maple. This specimen has abundant character with patina common to very old wood and the satiny smooth feel indicative of years of use. This little gem is assembled using small square nails the size of brads and the fancy cut out on its top adds just the right touch. Even the hole used to hang the box from the wall is uneven and shows years of use. This would make a great catch all in any room and it displays very well. The box is 12” wide and stands 4 ½” high with a depth of 5”. |

Antique Spice Set SS05 Here is a beautiful early spice set in Excellent condition. The exterior of this set sports a gold oriental motif stenciled on an asphaltum finish. This detailed motif is featured on the top and three sides of the spice box and is very clean and free of any scratches. The hasp assembly and hinges on this spice box are intact and function perfectly. The interior of the box is in near mint condition and is finished in a wonderful copper colored japanned finish. Each of the six individual spice containers is stenciled in gold with the following spice names: Nutmeg, Ginger, Cinnamon, Cloves, Allspice and Mace. The interiors of the individual tins still retain their bright finish and all of the tins are free of scratches or dents. This wonderful specimen stands 3 ½” tall by 9 ¼” X 6”. Each of the tins stands 2 7/8” tall with a diameter of 3”. Spice sets of this vintage, in a condition this good, are a rare find and this museum quality specimen would will hold it’s own in any collection. |

Still in outstanding overall condition from rural New England, this beautiful Spice Box still has the original, red painted handle on top as well as the lifting front latch. Depth is about 4" and the Box measures approx. 9 1/2" wide by about 6 1/4" front to back. Still has the original, black asphaltum exterior paint with fine red and gold pin-striped line decorative motif on both top & sides, just as you'd expect on a 19th Century Spice Box. Front latch swivels upward & lifts lid to expose a beautifully japanned interior and all six original, stenciled Spice Canisters with original floral finials & flip latches plus bright tinned interiors. These individual Spice Canisters are clearly marked with gold painted labels reading: "Ginger" ... "Mace" ... "Cloves" ... "Allspice" ... "Cinnamon" ... "Nutmegs". Individual canisters are beautifully japanned in a deep reddish "root beer" color as is the interior of the Spice Box itself. Canisters feature "L" shaped, tin flip latches on hinges which are still intact & functional, as are the matching, flower shaped finials on top of each one. The small spice canisters measure about 3" by 3" and stand 2 3/4" tall to top of the Spice Box rim as can be seen in the photos, with decorative finials adding another 1/2". About as complete, undamaged, and gorgeous as these Antique Spice Box sets ever get after a Century of honest use. The front latch is missing the catch which would be a relatively easy repair to make. |
